Dad & Me Insert Cards
LEARN HOW TO MAKE COOL DAD & ME INSERT CARDS FOR ANY DAD USING YOUR CRICUT CUTTING MACHINE
After I came out with my Mom & Me Insert Cards about a month ago, I knew I wanted to create a version for Dad.
I do have another tutorial on Father's Day Insert Cards. However, at the time, I did not have a version for a boy or a girl or even for two dads. You can still check out the tutorial here but this is an updated version and I even drew the figures a bit differently.
As for all my insert cards, it can be made using any Cricut, or other brand, cutting machine you have! In the download, you will find two folders inside. One for Maker/Explore and one for Joy.
The Cricut Joy design is ONLY the design so it would be best to use Cricut’s Insert Card Packs available at most craft stores!
Note: I will be using my Cricut Joy in this tutorial and the Joy design files. For more information on how to use this design with a Cricut Maker or Explore Air 2, please take a look at my tutorial on how to make Mother’s Day Insert Cards!
In this tutorial, I’ll give you my step by step instructions and tell you what materials I think work best when making this project.
Basic and Premium TBH Crafters Club Members can download the SVG cut file for this project in the File Library.

Instructions
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD THE SVG CUT FILE
Download the SVG Cut file for the Dad & Me Insert Cards (#81) from The File Vault. Get access by joining the club.
STEP 2 - UPLOAD THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
If you aren't familiar with uploading SVG files into Design Space, take a look at my quick and easy tutorial here. Using your smartphone? Click here for my step-by-step guide on uploading SVG files with the Cricut App.
Note: There are several versions of this card located in the download. For this tutorial, I am using the Dads & Me - Boy design with my Cricut Joy. You choose the design and file you prefer with your machine choice.
Once uploaded, click the GREEN Make It button.
STEP 3 - PREPARE YOUR MATS AND MAKE YOUR MATERIAL SELECTIONS
Design Space will ask you which mat you will be using. For this tutorial, I am using the SUPER COOL Card Mat.
Once you've made your selection, click DONE.
For the insert cards, change the material size to 4.25x5.5 inches. Click CONTINUE.
I am using the pre-folded Cricut Joy Insert Cards for this project.
I also changed my pressure setting to MORE.
Insert your card layer into the card mat with the folded side on the left. Make sure to align at the top and side.
I use my Cricut Brayer at this point to give the card a good rub just to make sure it adheres well.
STEP 4 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS
Open your Cricut Joy.
Place the card mat into the machine. Your machine will feed the mat into your Cricut Joy automatically and check for proper alignment.
In Cricut Design Space, select the green GO button and your Joy will begin the cut.
Once the cut is complete, select UNLOAD in Design Space.
To remove your card, use a weeding tool to release an edge of the card.
Now, carefully remove it from the card mat.
STEP 5 - ASSEMBLE YOUR CARD
Now that your card is cut, it is time to assemble the insert card.
Weed any portions of the card that may have not released when removing the card from the mat.
Slide the insert into the slits made on the outer card layer, securing it into place.
Flip the card over and press with your hand to ensure everything lays properly.
Your card is now ready! Personalize the card with a message and use the envelopes included with your Insert Card pack to mail it to let dad know you appreciate everything he does!
These cards are so simple and so sweet. I just know any Dad will love them!
