Hi! I am The Bearded Housewife!

I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself, tell you a little bit about who I am, my background, and how I became The Bearded Housewife!
My name is Nick and I live in a rural area of mid-Michigan called Owosso. It’s between Lansing (our capital) and Flint (I know you know about Flint, Michigan). I am newly married since November of 2019 to my amazing husband. I affectionately refer to him as Hubs here. We are raising two children. A girl, 5, and a boy, 4. They are foster kids and have been with us for over two years now. If you follow this blog, I intend on letting you in on my [our] take, opinions, and experiences of the foster care system.
But I digress…
I grew up in Grand Blanc, Michigan. A suburb of Flint. I have always been a creative person. From a young age. I mean, hello, I’m gay. So it’s in my blood but also because of my Mom. She was an artist at heart and really nurtured that side of me. So much so that members of my family call me “Mini-Teri”. I love that and if you knew her, you’d agree. Totally two peas in a pod.
Growing up, I’d make clay pot people, sew a little, paint, and design. I always wanted to do things with my hands (ha! Not how that was to come out!). I also would dream about what it would be like to have the husband and the kids and the whole white picket fence thing. I knew that I wanted to be a homemaker like my mom was and did so well!
Wow, did those dreams come TRUE! I am the nurturer of our family. My husband has a demanding job and I take care of our kids and our home. I have enjoyed designing, decorating, adding touches here and there to our house to really make it our HOME!
With that passion, I, like everyone nowadays, look at blogs and YouTube for advice and tutorials. While there is so much information out there, I really didn’t see anyone who looked like me, talked like me, or came at issues from my perspective. Being the “mom” of our house definitely comes with some reaction from people! So, after realizing that I was in a somewhat unique position, The Bearded Housewife was born.
My goal of this blog is to provide advice, tutorials, and ideas to inspire you to make your house your home. I will always do it with a little humor, some sass, some swearing, and always from a place of love!
So I hope that you join me and hopefully you see something that sparks that creative side in you!
Love,
