DIY Sympathy Card

HOW TO CREATE A BEAUTIFUL POP UP SYMPATHY CARD WITH YOUR CRICUT
One of Hub's very good friends lost his mother suddenly last week. I wanted to make something special for them as a way to let them know we are there if and when they need us. So, I created this pop up sympathy card with a pop up sympathy lily.
This friend has been very good to my husband and also to our kids and myself. He and his wife have always been there when we needed them and we are so saddened by the loss of his mother.
Hubs and I have both lost our mothers so we know the pain he and his family are going through. Death sucks!
In this tutorial, I’ll give you my step by step instructions and tell you what materials I think work best when making this project.

Select the ATTACH option in lower right hand corner.
STEP 6 - PREP THE INNER CARD LAYER
Scroll down the list in the LAYERS panel and find the inner card layer. Click the fold line.

STEP 8 - UPLOAD AND PREP THE PRINT THEN CUT EMBELLISHMENT INTO DESIGN SPACE
Import the Print then Cut image into Design Space using the same technique at the beginning of this tutorial. The Print then Cut image is in the zip file that you downloaded onto your computer under PRINT THEN CUT.
When you reach this screen, select COMPLEX.
Click CONTINUE.
Select the wand at the upper left hand coner.
Move your cursor to the left corner of the large white box.

Position the Print then Cut image over the white lily already on your canvas.
Highlight both layers.
Select FLATTEN.
Click the GREEN Make It Button located at the top right corner.
STEP 9 - MAKE YOUR MATERIAL SELECTIONS AND PREPARE YOUR MATS
I am using Cricut brand Medium Cardstock
for my project. The Print then Cut image is printed on 8.5 x 11 medium weight white cardstock.
STEP 10 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS
Print out your Print then Cut image once prompted by Design Space.
Attach your cardstock to the Cricut StandardGrip Mat.
To load the mat into the machine, press the double arrows button. Do make sure that the mat is positioned under the mat guides.
Hit the "C" button once it begins to flash and you are on your way to cutting out your card!
Once the cut is complete, the double arrows will flash again. Press it and the mat will unload.
When removing the card, peel your mat away from the card rather than peeling your card away from the mat. This will help prevent curling.
Repeat Step 10 until all layers are drawn and cut.
STEP 11 - ASSEMBLE YOUR CARD
Start with the lily. Carefully fold along the score lines of both the top and bottom piece.
Attach the red pieces to the stemen of the lily. Let dry.
Fold the inner card layer.
Carefully fold along the score lines of the leaves.
Position and glue to the inner card layer making sure to line up the score lines.
Glue the top and bottom pieces of the lily together by adding glue to the flaps on either side of the stemen.
Place the top piece behind the stemen attach the flaps from the bottom piece to the top's.
Lightly press to ensure the lily still folds well.
Apply glue to the underside of the flaps.
Adhere to the inner card making sure to line up the score lines.
Make sure to fold the card to check for placement.
Fold the outer card layer along the score line.
Apply glue to the print then cut image.
Position the image above the text and adhere.
Glue the inner card layer to the outer card.
STEP 12 - PERSONALIZE THE CARD
Your card is now ready to add your words of encouragement and support.
Hopefully this card will help to let your loved one know that you care and love them through this trying time.

Hi, Linda,
The Sympathy Card is number 15 in the Resource Library.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance!
Me neither ..
Hi, Wendy,
If you scroll down the list of files in the resource library, the Sympathy Lily Card is number 15 on the list. If you need any more help, let me know!
Thanks!
please help!
everytime I try to save this it saves as a zip folder and wont let me upload to cricut design space..what do I need to do?
Hi, Tina.
Yes, all of the files in my library will download as zip files. It’s the only way to deliver large files like these.
Once you download the zip file, you need to unzip it. This usually is a right click with your mouse.
Then, locate the file named SVG. Inside, you will find the design to upload in Design Space.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions!!
Nick
Thank you for this beautiful card. Is it possible to link or name the font in the notes? I wanted to add my name and personal note in the same font, but couldn’t figure out what it was.
That’s “stamen”.
Wow! This was a challenge for some reason LOL
Thank you for another beautiful card.
