If you aren't familiar with uploading SVG files into Design Space, take a look at my quick and easy tutorial here. Using your smartphone? Click here for my step-by-step guide on uploading SVG files with the Cricut App.

STEP 3 - CONVERT THE CUT LINE TO DRAW LINES

As mentioned before, I am using the pre-folded Cricut Joy Insert Cards for this project.

Insert your card layer into the card mat with the folded side on the left. Make sure to align at the top and side.

to add your card to the mat, slip the card into the card mat and press the outside onto the mat

I use my Cricut Brayer at this point to give the card a good rub just to make sure it adheres
well.

use a brayer to ensure the card has adhered well

STEP 5 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS

Place the card mat into the machine. Your machine will feed the mat into your Cricut Joy automatically and check for proper alignment.

In Cricut Design Space, select the green GO button and your Joy will begin the cut.

Follow Design Space prompts to switch out the pen for the cutting blade.

Once the cut is complete, select UNLOAD in Design Space.

Carefully remove the card from the mat.

once complete, carefully peel the card away from the mat

STEP 6 - ASSEMBLE YOUR CARD

Now that your card is cut, it is time to assemble the insert card.

Weed any portions of the card that may have not released when removing the card from the mat.

weed any remaining parts of the card

Slide the insert into the slits made on the outer card layer, securing it into place.

carefully place the insert into the tabs of the card

Give the card a little press with your hands.

give it a good press if need be

Add glue or adhesive to any portions of the outer card layer that may be curling. This is totally optional!

  1. Love this card and love using my Cricut Joy! Question: you have two cricut joy insert files which look the same but have very slightly different measurements. Does it matter which one I choose? Thank you.

    1. Hi, Shirl,

I am sorry about that! I didn’t remove my test file from the download before adding it to the library. I have updated the file if you would like to download it again. If not, use the file that has my name attached to the title (ie. “-thebeardedhousewife”).

I am so glad you love this card! I can’t wait to see how yours turns out!

      Happy New Year!
