Pop-up Graduation Card
HOW TO MAKE A POP-UP GRADUATION CARD WITH YOUR CRICUT
The world is a bit crazy right now. We have been stuck at home for months. Our kids aren’t in school. The age group that, I think, is most affected by this are the senior classes of both high schools and colleges around the world! They are the ones who kind of got the short end of the stick in all of this!
Don’t you remember graduating high school? Those butterflies in your stomach? How the world seemed so big yet you were ready to take it by the balls! (Sorry if that offends anyone. Just a figure of speech!)
Help them realize just how special they are with my Pop-up Graduation Card. It is easy to make, special, funny, and meant to put a smile on people's faces!
In this tutorial, I’ll give you my step by step instructions and tell you what materials I think work best when making this project.

Instructions
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD THE SVG CUT FILE
Download the SVG Cut file for this Pop-up Graduation Card (#8) from The File Library. Not a member? Get access by joining the club.
STEP 2 - UPLOAD THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
If you aren't familiar with uploading SVG files into Design Space, take a look at my quick and easy tutorial here. Using your smartphone? Click here for my step-by-step guide on uploading SVG files with the Cricut App.
STEP 3 - UNGROUP CARD LAYERS
The file will upload into Cricut Design Space grouped together. You will want to hit the UNGROUP button to separate the layers.
STEP 4 - CONVERT FOLD LINES TO SCORE LINES AND ATTACH TO CARD PIECES
Scroll down the list in the LAYERS panel and find the card pieces.
Change the fold lines to score lines by changing the LINE TYPE from CUT to SCORE.
Attach the score line and the card piece by highlighting the GROUP the two pieces are under.
Select the ATTACH option in lower right hand corner.
Repeat this process for the envelope as well.
Note: For the INSIDE card panel, make sure to change only THE HORIZONTAL cut lines to score lines. You will want the vertical cut lines to remain as they are!
Click the GREEN Make It Button located at the top right corner.
STEP 5 - PREPARE YOUR MATS
You can group some the pieces to other mats by hovering over the image and clicking the three dots that appear.
Then, click move to Mat and choose which Mat you would like to place it on.
Click the CONTINUE button.
STEP 6 - MAKE YOUR MATERIAL SELECTIONS
Select your cardstock from the Materials list. I used Medium Cardstock for this tutorial.
Now you're ready to prepare your mat and make the cuts!
STEP 7 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS
Attach your cardstock to the Cricut LightGrip Mat. The LightGrip Mat is perfect for cardstock projects as it is sturdy enough to hold onto the cardstock but won't tear the paper when you release your design.
To load the mat into the machine, press the double arrows button. Do make sure that the mat is positioned under the mat guides.
Hit the "C" button once it begins to flash and you are on your way to cutting out your card!
Once the cut is complete, the double arrows will flash again. Press it and the mat will unload. Repeat Step 7 until all layers are cut.
STEP 8 - ASSEMBLE YOUR CARD
Start by gluing the white word bubble to the black bubble.
Add the seal and ribbon to the diploma.
Glue text to the word bubble. Use very small dots of glue on here. This is why I LOVE this Art Glitter Glue! If some does squish out, this glue does dry clear!
Use the tweezers from your Cricut Tool Set or very delicate hands to place the three dots to the word bubble.
Fold the outer layer of the card.
Next, fold the inner layer of the card.
When creating the pop-up, carefully pop out the flap and fold along the horizontal fold lines. This is what it should look like after you have creased all the folds.
Attach the two card pieces together.
Note: You DO NOT place any glue on the pop out of the inner card!
Adhere the word bubble to the outside of the card.
Attach the diploma to the accentuation shape.
Glue the YOU! to the top of the inner card layer. You don't have to center it perfectly if you don't want to!
Now, glue the CONGRADULATIONS to the bottom of the inner card layer.
Add your diploma to the pop out by only gluing on the riser portion.
Fold along the score lines of your envelope.
Glue the envelope flaps to form the pocket.
You're all done!
STEP 9 - PERSONALIZE THE CARD
Add your own sentiment below the CONGRADULATIONS!
You can add your words of encouragement and throw in some cash, a check or gift card, and you are ready to deliver this special card to your graduate! Post a photo in the comment section or tag your projects on social media @thebeardedhousewife using the hashtag #beardedhousewife! I’d love to see how you transform this card!
