Make Reveal Wheel Christmas Cards on a Cricut

LEARN HOW TO MAKE CUTE POLAR BEAR REVEAL WHEEL CARDS ON YOUR CRICUT CUTTING MACHINE
I love interactive cards. They really add something special.
I came up with this adorable polar bear scene and decided to make my first reveal wheel card.
I have been reluctant to try reveal wheel cards as the placement of the wheel itself is vital. Well, I came up with a way to ensure proper placement every time.
I drew an outline around the top of the scalloped wheel. You just line up the wheel and BAM! Perfect placement!
The card has four sentiments – Warm Wishes, Merry Christmas, Season's Greetings, and Happy Holidays. You can use the sentiment layer on the front or leave it off. Totally up to you!
In this tutorial, I’ll give you my step by step instructions and tell you what materials I think work best when making this project.

Instructions
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD THE SVG CUT FILE
Download the SVG Cut file for the Polar Bear Reveal Wheel Card (#105) from The File Vault. Get access by joining the club.
STEP 2 - UPLOAD THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
If you aren't familiar with uploading SVG files into Design Space, take a look at my quick and easy tutorial here. Using your smartphone? Click here for my step-by-step guide on uploading SVG files with the Cricut App.
STEP 3 - UNGROUP CARD LAYERS
The file will upload into Cricut Design Space grouped together. You will want to hit the UNGROUP button to separate the layers.
STEP 4 - CONVERT FOLD LINES TO SCORE LINES
Scroll down the list in the LAYERS panel and find the envelope. Click the fold line.
Change the fold lines to score lines by changing the OPERATION from BASIC CUT to SCORE.
Attach the score line and the envelope by highlighting the GROUP the envelope is under and selecting the ATTACH option in lower right hand corner.
Next, find the inner layer for the reveal wheel. This is the layer with a scalloped line at the top. Click that line and follow step 4 to convert the layer from BASIC CUT to PEN.
Do the same for the reveal wheel (scalloped circle) and the sentiment for the outside of the card.
Click the GREEN Make It Button.
STEP 5 - MAKE YOUR MATERIAL SELECTIONS AND PREPARE YOUR MATS
You will see the twelve layers for this card in the mat preview.
Click the CONTINUE button.
For this tutorial, I am using Medium Cardstock. Select your materials accordingly.
Attach your cardstock to the Cricut StandardGrip Mat using the Cricut Brayer.
STEP 6 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS
To load the mat into the machine, press the double arrows button. Do make sure that the mat is positioned under the mat guides.
You will know the machine is ready to cut your material when you see the flashing "C" button. Press that to start the cut.
Follow Design Space prompts to change out the scoring wheel, pen, and fine point cutting blade.
Once the cut is complete, make sure to peel the mat away from the cardstock rather than the cardstock from the mat. This will prevent any curling of your design.
Repeat Step 6 for until all layers have been cut.
STEP 7 - ASSEMBLE YOUR CARD
Now that everything is cut, we can start to assemble the card.
Begin by layering the embellishments starting with the Christmas tree. Add the green layers from biggest on the bottom to smallest at the top onto the brown base layer. Then add the ornaments and star.
Now, let's put together the polar bear. Starting with the white layer with the arms, layer the brown layer on top.
Next, the white layer with the face cut out.
Add the hat and trim.
Now, his tummy followed by his scarf.
Take the message layer and add glue to the back.
Then, adhere to the mat.
Add glue to the back of the mat and adhere it to the scalloped layer.
Now, let's complete our scene.
Add the snow mound to the bottom of the sky layer.
Add the frame to the reveal wheel window.
Next, add the Christmas tree, polar bear, and sentiment to the front of the card.
To assemble the reveal wheel mechanism, insert the brad through the hole of the small circle.
Then, through the reveal wheel and bend the prongs on the brad down.
Add foam squares onto the back of the small circle around the brad head.
Remove the paper backing from the foam squares and secure the reveal wheel to the backing layer. To ensure proper placement, line up the edges of the wheel with the drawn line on the backing layer.
Apply foam squares to the backing layer around the reveal wheel. Make sure not to get too close to the wheel as this will prevent it from turning properly.
Remove the paper backing from the foam squares and layer the front card onto the backing layer. Make sure to line up your edges.
Lastly, add glue to the back of the completed reveal wheel and adhere to the scalloped layer.
STEP 8 - FORM THE ENVELOPE
To make the envelope, begin by folding along the score lines and press the folds with your scraper.
Add glue to the back of the inlay panel as well as around the cutout.
Place the inlay panel over the cutout on the envelope making sure to center it well.
Add glue to the bottom of the side flaps.
Bring the bottom flap up and press to form the envelope.
Your card and envelope are complete.
This reveal wheel is just adorable. My kids sat there and spun the wheel for the longest time. They thought Daddy was so cool!
