Mother’s Day Shadow Box Cards

LEARN HOW TO MAKE SHADOW BOX CARDS FOR MOTHER'S DAY USING YOUR CRICUT CUTTING MACHINE
Time for another Mother's Day card tutorial! This time, I have a beautiful shadow box card for you.
Like my Christmas Tree Shadow Box Card, this card folds almost flat so it can be mailed. It features a beautiful scene inside of a Mom and child playing outside. So sweet.
In this tutorial, I’ll give you my step by step instructions and tell you what materials I think work best when making this project.
UPDATE: Since posting this tutorial, I have had several people ask me for a boy and a girl version. I now have both versions available within the download. There is a file folder containing the boy version which is used in this tutorial as well as a file folder containing the girl version.
Basic and Premium TBH Crafters Club Members can download the SVG cut file for this project in the File Library.

Instructions
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD THE SVG CUT FILE
Download the SVG Cut file for the Mother's Day Shadow Box Card (#76) from The File Vault. Get access by joining the club.
Within the download, there are both a boy and a girl version of this card. I will be using the boy version for this tutorial. You choose whichever version you prefer to make.
STEP 2 - UPLOAD THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
If you aren't familiar with uploading SVG files into Design Space, take a look at my quick and easy tutorial here. Using your smartphone? Click here for my step-by-step guide on uploading SVG files with the Cricut App.
You will see I have set all the score lines and draw lines for you.
If you would like to change the color pen, you may do so in Design Space although it is not necessary. Just add whatever color pen you want to use to Clamp A when prompted.
Click the GREEN Make It button.
STEP 3 - MAKE YOUR MATERIAL SELECTIONS AND PREPARE YOUR MATS
You will see the six layers for this card in the mat preview. Click the CONTINUE button.
For this tutorial, I am using Medium Cardstock. Select your materials accordingly.
I suggest you change your pressure setting to MORE. This will help you fold the pieces a bit better.
Attach your cardstock to the Cricut StandardGrip Mat.
STEP 4 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS
To load the mat into the machine, press the double arrows button. Do make sure that the mat is positioned under the mat guides.
You will know the machine is ready to cut your material when you see the flashing "C" button. Press that to start the cut.
Follow Design Space prompts to change out the scoring wheel, fine point cutting blade, and pen.
Once the cut is complete, make sure to peel the mat away from the cardstock rather than the cardstock from the mat. This will prevent any curling of your design.
Repeat Step 4 for until all layers have been cut.
STEP 5 - ASSEMBLE YOUR SHADOW BOX CARD
Now that everything is cut, we can start to assemble the card.
Begin by folding along the score lines of the outer card layer.
Press the folds with your scraper.
Next, fold along the score lines of the inner card layers. Press the folds with your scraper.
Make sure to have the tabs facing you.
Continue this step until all inner card layers have been folded.
Now, starting with your lightest color inner card layer, add adhesive or glue to the left tab.
Starting on the right side of the card window, place the tab in place.
Press down to make sure it has adhered well.
Next, add the second layer behind the first leaving a slight gap to help with folding.
Continue this until all inner card layers have been placed.
Now, lay the inner card layers flat, fanning out the tabs on the right.
Starting with the lightest color layer again, add adhesive to the right tab.
Bring the outer card up.
Fold the card flat making sure to press the tabs well.
Don't forget to line up the edges.
Continue this step until all inner card layers have been secured to the outer card.
Finally, add glue or adhesive to the left and right sides of the back panel.
Line up the edges with the back tabs.
Press into place with your hand.
Your card is complete!
Fold the card to the left to place into the envelope.
You can make an envelope using the ENVELOPE file in the download. This card will fit into any standard 5x7 envelope.
I just know that your mom will love this card. It is so beautiful and unique. Just like she is!
