Golf Cart Box Cards for Father’s Day
LEARN HOW TO MAKE CUTE GOLF CART BOX CARDS FOR FATHER'S DAY USING YOUR CRICUT CUTTING MACHINE
With Father's Day coming up, I wanted to make a fun card for my dad. He loves to golf so I thought I would make something with that theme in mind. This golf cart box card turned out great!
There are several layers but it is easy to assemble and can fold flat for mailing! There is a sentiment layer on the back to add your message. Plus, I didn't add a message specific to Father's Day in the design to allow you to send this to someone throughout the year!
In this tutorial, I’ll give you my step by step instructions and tell you what materials I think work best when making this project.

Instructions
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD THE SVG CUT FILE
Download the SVG Cut file for the Golf Cart Box Card (#80) from The File Vault. Get access by joining the club.
STEP 2 - UPLOAD THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
If you aren't familiar with uploading SVG files into Design Space, take a look at my quick and easy tutorial here. Using your smartphone? Click here for my step-by-step guide on uploading SVG files with the Cricut App.
You will see I have set all the score lines for you.
Click the GREEN Make It button.
STEP 3 - MAKE YOUR MATERIAL SELECTIONS AND PREPARE YOUR MATS
You will see the twelve layers for this card in the mat preview. Click the CONTINUE button.
For this tutorial, I am using Medium Cardstock. Select your materials accordingly.
Note: If you would like to create a sturdier flagpole, use heavy cardstock or even kraft paper. Another option would be to cut another flagpole and glue the two together.
I suggest you change your pressure setting to MORE. This will help you fold the pieces a bit better.
Attach your cardstock to the Cricut StandardGrip Mat using the Cricut Brayer to adhere the paper well.
STEP 4 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS
To load the mat into the machine, press the double arrows button. Do make sure that the mat is positioned under the mat guides.
You will know the machine is ready to cut your material when you see the flashing "C" button. Press that to start the cut.
Follow Design Space prompts to change out the scoring wheel and fine point cutting blade.
Once the cut is complete, make sure to peel the mat away from the cardstock rather than the cardstock from the mat. This will prevent any curling of your design.
Repeat Step 4 for until all layers have been cut.
STEP 5 - ASSEMBLE YOUR BOX CARD
Now that everything is cut, we can start to assemble the card.
Begin by adding the layers of the golf cart to the backing piece.
The golf cart should look like so.
Next, add glue to the golf ball layer and place the golf balls onto the backing.
Note: I have added some dimension to the golf balls using my Cricut CuttleBug.
Add your text layers above the golf balls and then the golf tees below the golf balls.
Next, assemble the flag pole by adhering the flag to the top of the pole.
Add glue to the backside of the lighter green layer.
Adhere to the darker green layer making sure to leave an edge along the side.
Now, fold along the score lines of the box layers.
Apply glue to the glue tabs.
Form your box.
Add glue to the backside of the light green inside panels. Apply to the front and sides of the box.
Apply glue to the back of the box.
Place the green on the back of the box making sure to line up the edges.
Add your sentiment layer to the back of the card.
Place glue on the glue tabs for the inside "rails" and apply to the inside of the box.
Add glue to the bottom of the flagpole.
Place on the back rail.
Add glue to the rectangular portion of the golf ball layer.
Place on the front rail.
Add glue to the back of the golf cart.
Place on the front of the box.
STEP 6 - ASSEMBLE THE ENVELOPE
Begin by folding along the score lines.
Press the folds with your scraper.
Add glue to the side flaps.
Bring the bottom flap up forming the envelope.
Your golf cart card is ready to add your message and gift!
I am sure that anyone who loves golf will enjoy receiving this card!

WOAH! This is incredibly well designed and thought out! LOVE IT! 🙂
Thank you, Emily!
Hi Nick, The score lines are attached properly for the “box”. Do you have an updated file (I can’t figure out how to fold correctly.) Your shadow box cards have been a hit! Thanks for sharing your talent.
Hi, Teresa!
I’m sorry you are having issue with folding the box. If you are referring to the two pieces forming the box, you’ll want to fold them into “L-shapes”. They attach to each other using the glue tab on the shorter portion.
Let me know if that helps. I’ll be posting a video for this card soon.
Thank you for the compliment. I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed my projects.
Let me know if you need anything else!
is there a video for the assembly? Having some trouble getting the box together and after that
ThanksM
In the process of uploading a video tutorial as we speak. Check back soon!
Very nice card! What embossing folder did you use on the golf balls? Makes them look very authentic.
Linda,
Thank you! The embossing folder I used is called Merry Christmas Snowfall by Kwan Crafts.
Sounds funny but the imprint worked perfectly for the golf balls!
Awesome! Works for me!
Hi Nick!
This is so awesome! THANK YOU! I messed up on my colors (lol) and I am going to have to try and make the box again (oops). You are so kind and thoughtful to share with us!
Hi Nick
Love your card. It was going along well until I went to make the box and realized the score lines weren’t attached. They were fine on the shorter green strips. How can I find out where to place the score lines to make the box?
Thank you so much
Cathy, Maryland, USA
Hi Cathy!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have corrected the file and added the new zip folder to the resource library page. I replaced the old file with the new one. Just download it and it should be all set once you import it into Design Space.
Let me know if you need anything else!
Thanks!
Nick
Nick … you are especially AMAZING,!!! It took me all of about 2 minutes to upload the new file and cut out the 2 new SCORED green pieces. Yay!!
THANK YOU!
Cathy
I love the Golf Cart Card and want to make it for a birthday but there are no score line for the envelope and none on the base strips where to fold. It indicates on the file that some are there but they did not score when I cut the file. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks for such a great design.
