Easy Envelope Boxes
LEARN HOW TO MAKE EASY ENVELOPE BOXES FOR YOUR CARDS OR SMALL GIFTS USING YOUR CRICUT CUTTING MACHINE!
Since I have started making more dimensional cards for everyone, I have found that I needed to add boxes to accommodate them.
Instead of including them to each of my tutorials, I figured I would create a tutorial on it's own that I could refer to when making my fun pop-up and more bulky cards.
Now, I know this isn't the most EXCITING tutorial but it really is important. We spend so much time creating these beautiful cards that you should have something to gift it properly!
Within the download, there are two styles of envelope boxes – flip top and box style. Each style has a 5×7, 5×5, and 6×6 size.
I didn't include a size for the cards I make on my Cricut Joy because those tend to fit just right in a regular envelope.
These boxes can be made with any patterned cardstock you may have or you can dress it up with embellishments, bows, and tags!
In this tutorial, I’ll give you my step by step instructions and tell you what materials I think work best when making this project.

Instructions
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD THE SVG CUT FILE
Download the SVG Cut file for the Envelope Boxes (#91) from The File Vault. Get access by joining the club.
Note: There are two options for this design. One is the Flip Top Style and one is the Box Style. I will showing you both versions in this tutorial.
STEP 2 - UPLOAD THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
If you aren't familiar with uploading SVG files into Design Space, take a look at my quick and easy tutorial here. Using your smartphone? Click here for my step-by-step guide on uploading SVG files with the Cricut App.
STEP 3 - UNGROUP CARD LAYERS
The file will upload into Cricut Design Space grouped together. You will want to hit the UNGROUP button to separate the layers.
STEP 4 - CONVERT FOLD LINES TO SCORE LINES
In the LAYERS panel, find the envelope layer. Click the fold line.
Change the fold lines to score lines by changing the OPERATION from BASIC CUT to SCORE.
Attach the score line and the envelope piece by highlighting the GROUP the card layer is under and selecting the ATTACH option in lower right hand corner.
Repeat this step for the other envelope piece.
Click the GREEN Make It Button.
STEP 5 - MAKE YOUR MATERIAL SELECTIONS AND PREPARE YOUR MATS
You will see the two layers for this envelope box in the mat preview.
Click the CONTINUE button.
For this tutorial, I am using Medium Cardstock. Select your materials accordingly.
Attach your cardstock to the Cricut StandardGrip Mat using the Cricut Brayer.
STEP 6 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS
To load the mat into the machine, press the double arrows button. Do make sure that the mat is positioned under the mat guides.
You will know the machine is ready to cut your material when you see the flashing "C" button. Press that to start the cut.
Follow Design Space prompts to change out the scoring wheel and fine point cutting blade.
Once the cut is complete, make sure to peel the mat away from the cardstock rather than the cardstock from the mat. This will prevent any curling of your design.
Repeat Step 6 until both layers have been cut.
STEP 7 - ASSEMBLE THE FLIP TOP ENVELOPE BOX
Now that everything is cut, we can start to assemble the envelope.
Fold along the score lines and burnish with your scraper.
Locate the envelope piece that has the finger hole.
Add glue or adhesive to the outside of the tabs.
Making sure to line up your edges, adhere to the inside of the other envelope piece.
Repeat for the other side.
I like to give the box a good fold just to make sure there is no buckling and re-enforce the folds.
Fold in the bottom flap.
Place your card or small gifts inside and close the top flap.
STEP 8 - ASSEMBLE THE BOX ENVELOPE
Fold along the score lines and burnish with your scraper.
Add glue to the four tabs.
Form the corners and press into place.
Repeat for the second envelope piece.
Within this download, there are flip top and box style envelope boxes for 5x7, 5x5, and 6x6 cards!
I hope you found this tutorial useful!
