Okay, everyone. I finally made a paper flower for you all. I really think I made something beautiful with these paper poinsettias!
This paper Christmas flower is not only gorgeous with the gold edging made with a paint pen but I am sure it will become a staple in your holiday decor!
If you don't have a cutting machine, you can print off the PDF versions of this flower and hand cut the layers to assemble it!
In this tutorial, I’ll give you my step by step instructions and tell you what materials I think work best when making this project.

Instructions
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD THE SVG CUT FILE
Download the SVG Cut file for the Paper Poinsettia (#51) from The File Vault. Get access by joining the club.
STEP 2 - UPLOAD THE SVG FILE TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE
If you aren't familiar with uploading SVG files into Design Space, take a look at my quick and easy tutorial here. Using your smartphone? Click here for my step-by-step guide on uploading SVG files with the Cricut App.
STEP 3 - UNGROUP CARD LAYERS
The file will upload into Cricut Design Space grouped together. You will want to hit the UNGROUP button to separate the layers.
STEP 4 - HIGHLIGHT AND DUPLICATE THE PETALS
In order to make it easier to cut this flower out, I want you to follow this step.
Highlight the three poinsettia petals.
Click ATTACH in the lower right hand corner of the layers panel.
Select DUPLICATE at the top of the layers panel. Press duplicate FOUR times.
You should end up with five sets of petals.
Click the GREEN Make it button.
STEP 5 - MAKE YOUR MATERIAL SELECTIONS AND PREPARE YOUR MATS
You see that each petal layer fits on one mat. This will minimize paper waste!
Click CONTINUE.
For this tutorial, I am using Medium Cardstock.
Attach your cardstock to the Cricut StandardGrip Mat.
STEP 6 - LOADING YOUR MATS AND CUTTING YOUR MATERIALS
To load the mat into the machine, press the double arrows button. Do make sure that the mat is positioned under the mat guides.
Hit the "C" button once it begins to flash and you are on your way to creating your card! Follow the prompts in Design Space on when to change out the scoring wheel or stylus with the cutting blade.
STEP 7 - ASSEMBLE YOUR POINSETTIA
Now that everything has been cut out, it is time to assemble!
First, draw a line along the edge of the poinsettia petals using the gold paint pen. This is completely optional but I think it adds some pretty shimmer to the flower.
Repeat this step for all of your petals.
Second, roll up the center piece of your flower tightly.
Use hot glue to secure the center as you roll it up.
Once it is glued together, fluff out the center for a more natural look.
Third, begin forming your petals. To do this, add a bit of hot glue to the lower left side of your petal.
Bring the right side over and press it into place on top of the left side. This will form your 3D flower petal.
Set aside to dry and repeat for all remaining petals.
Next, begin adding your petals to the pentagon shaped base, starting with the largest flower petals. Each petal should be placed on one of the five sides.
Continue placing the petals around the base making sure to tuck the new petal under the previous one.
For the second layer of petals, use the medium sized petals and place in the same fashion but staggered with the previous layer.
Do the same for the third layer, and smallest, of petals.
Now, I didn't think one center piece was enough for this flower. If you do, that is completely your choice but I wanted something a bit more substantial. So, I added some hot glue to the center piece I already rolled up earlier.
Then rolled the second center piece onto the first.
Add some hot glue to the bottom of the center.
Then place in the center of the poinsettia petals and fluff until you achieve your desired look.
Finally, add your leaves to the back of your flower. To do this, add some hot glue to the bottom of a leaf.
Place behind the flower and press with your hand to secure.
Do this for the remaining leaves as you wish. You can even duplicate more if you want!
Your poinsettia is finsihed and ready to display!
I know you are going to love this beautiful paper flower. It would be perfect on the wall wherever you need that burst of Holiday sparkle, add a ribbon to the back and hang it on your front door or even place as a centerpiece on your Christmas table!
