Panko Fried Chicken
HOW TO MAKE OVEN FRIED CHICKEN WITH PANKO
My family goes nuts over these panko fried chicken strips! The crispy coating and the juicy chicken. What's not to like? The kids always ask chicken nuggets or strips at any restaurant – sit down or fast food! I personally think they just like the dipping part but I could be wrong. Hubs considers ketchup a main food group!
I have this in my weeknight dinner rotation frequently. It is quick to make, tastes good and can be paired with really anything! No need for a fryer here because they crisp up in the oven! Nobody will even know they are healthier for them because they are just so damn good!
I will do up an easy green salad, some mashed potatoes or potato salad if we are having a BBQ, some veggies, cut up some bricks of cheese and we are ready for dinner!

RECOMMENDED MATERIALS & INGREDIENTS
Oven Fried Chicken with Panko
Make easy chicken tenders at home that are crisp and crunchy. Perfect for a weeknight dinner!
Ingredients
- 4 Chicken breasts
- 2 Eggs
- 3 cups Panko breadcrumbs
- 2 Tablespoons Seasoned Salt
- 2 Tablespoons Parsley
- 2 Teaspoons Oregano
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Pam Cooking Spray
- Ziploc Bag
- Sheet Pans
Instructions
STEP 1 - PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.
STEP 2 - GATHER INGREDIENTS.
STEP 3 - CUT CHICKEN BREASTS INTO STRIPS ROUGHLY THE SAME SIZE.
STEP 4 - SEASON CHICKEN STRIPS WITH SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE.
STEP 5 - BEAT EGGS IN SEPERATE BOWL.
STEP 6 - ADD PANKO, SEASONED SALT, PARSLEY, AND OREGANO TO ZIPLOC BAG.
STEP 7 - SEAL BAG AND SHAKE WELL TO COMBINE. SET ASIDE.
STEP 8 - ADD STRIPS TO EGG MIXTURE.
STEP 9 - USING TONGS, PLACE CHICKEN STRIPS INTO ZIPLOC BAG. I USUALLY DO 4 STRIPS AT A TIME DEPENDING ON THE OVERALL SIZE OF MY CHICKEN BREASTS.
STEP 10 - SEAL BAG AND SHAKE WELL TO COAT CHICKEN WITH PANKO MIXTURE.
STEP 11 - SPRAY SHEET PAN WITH COOKING SPRAY.
Spray liberally. You want a fair amount to help your chicken crisp up but you don't want the chicken swimming!
STEP 12 - PLACE COATED CHICKEN STRIPS ONTO SHEET PAN.
STEP 13 - REPEAT UNTIL ALL CHICKEN IS DONE.
STEP 14 - PLACE IN PREHEATED OVEN.
STEP 15 - BAKE FOR 18-20 MINUTES DEPENDING ON YOUR OVEN AND DESIRED CRISPINESS.
STEP 16 - REMOVE FROM OVEN AND ALLOW TO COOL SLIGHTLY BEFORE SERVING.
STEP 17 - SERVE WITH YOUR FAVORITE DIPPING SAUCES!
Notes
The seasonings I use are what my family enjoys. If yours likes other seasonings, feel free to add them to the mix! Paprika or grated parmesan would work great!
My family prefers crispier chicken so I tend to bake the strips for roughly 20 minutes.
For dipping sauce, we use good old fashioned BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, yellow mustard, and/or ketchup (of course). Sometimes Hubs will even whip up some Hot Mustard like you find in Chinese restaurants to give a little punch!
You can substitute the seasonings to your family's liking.
Watching your sodium intake? Skip seasoning the chicken before adding to the panko mixture!
I know your family will enjoy this one!
